Conditions for importation of Cats and Dogs

Bahamas Dog Import Restricted Breeds & Quarantine

The Bahamas restricts the importation of certain dog breeds – even temporarily by visitors whether arriving by commercial airline, private boat, private airplane, or any other method.

Restricted/Banned Dog Breeds:

• Pit Bull
• Presa Canario
• Cane Corso
• American Bully
• Staffordshire Terrier
• Dogo Argentino
• Any mixed breed dogs that are mixed with these breeds are also restricted, so a pit bull mix is also restricted from importation.

Restricted Cat Breeds:

• Savannah Cat
• Bengal Cat
• Chausie

Bahamas Pet Dog/Cat Import Quarantine:

The Bahamas does not routinely quarantine dogs or cats when being imported. Certain cases may arise where it is necessary, but it is not common practice for dogs which are visually in good health and arrive with the proper import permit.
